As we traverse the darkest time of the year, we hold the light together.
This truth was beautifully apparent at this year's
Winter Solstice Community Celebration.
As we look to 2017, many of us who work for environmental healing and social justice have deep concerns about the appointments and policies of the incoming administration.
But take heart.
Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes reminds us that we were "made for these times."
Together we hold Thomas Berry's vision
of a Human-Earth Relationship that is "mutually enhancing."
Holding this vision and translating it into action
has never been more critical.
In our search for the roots of the environmental crises we face,
we echo the words of scientist Gus Speth:
In the next couple of weeks,
the Eco-Institute will publish our Spring Program Calendar.
We invite you to join us for community gatherings, living ecology workshops,
nature connection activities, regenerative retreats,
and soul-restoring walks.
For ecologically inspired young adults, this year's offerings will include
the regular ten-week Odyssey Fellowship, a next-level Odyssey Leadership Program,
and a 5-day Odyssey Intensive.
We love this quote by David Orr about the kind of young people
we seek to lead us into an ecologically resilient future:
Thanks, always, for your support
of The Eco-Institute at Pickards Mountain,
your community's local center for ecological healing.
We're one small part of a global movement towards ecological resilience,
of which you're an important part.
