Building with Cob Workshop
September 3-4, 2016

Join us and learn how to make cob, one of the oldest building materials on earth! It dries as hard as concrete, can be mixed with your own two feet, and requires only sand, straw, clay, and water. It is structural, so you don’t even need a wooden framework. This workshop is primarily hands-on. We will be learning about our natural ingredients as we jump right into mixing on Saturday morning. We will learn to apply cob, sculpt and trim it, and talk through how to cover it with beautiful functional earthen plaster. We will use the cob we mix to construct an exterior bench as part of a welcoming entryway in a 600 square-foot strawbale cabin. You should leave with the confidence to build your own small cob project, whether it be a bench, garden wall, or pizza oven.

We will begin at 9:00am and end our days around 4:30pm each day. A wholesome, vegetarian lunch will be served each day.
