The importance of beauty and of art for ecologically-minded people is underrated, or at least seldom discussed. “Aesthetics,” while remaining as a subject matter of philosophy, is underdeveloped. Alfred North Whitehead made the interesting comment that “the teleology of the universe is beauty.” What if for a weekend you could consider—be immersed in—Art, Beauty, Ecology?
Friday Evening: “The Importance of Beauty” by Sandra Lubarsky.
Saturday AM: “My Creative Life as an Artist” by Mary Southard, and Arts Workshops.
Saturday PM: Lunch. “Transforming Society with Art, Beauty, and Ecology” by Marcus Peter Ford, and group discussion of Living the Creative Life. Closing with introduction to Celtic celebration of Beltane and dance with Ann Loomis.
Five Adult Arts Workshops to choose from: Pastel Drawing with Mary Southard; Poetry Writing with Maggie Peltier and Eve Olive; a Lesson in Werbeck Singing with Joanna Carey; Moving in Beauty with Kelly Calegar; and Poetry Reading led by Bill Peck.
PLUS an All Saturday Children’s art workshop for first to fifth graders led by Cely Chicurel.
If you are ecologically minded and love art and beauty, this event is FOR YOU!
