Fall Rites of Passage Retreat
A TRANSFORMATIVE WEEKEND EXPERIENCE
Throughout our lives, we meet transitions that invite us to leave parts of ourselves behind in order to make way for the new life calling. Today’s cultures typically offer little support to people navigating these cycles. At all ages and life stages, there are important thresholds to honor. Little by little, rites of passage are gradually finding their place once again as we rediscover their central importance to rebuilding a village culture within our modern world.
This course is a prerequisite for our week-long vision fast program that we are hosting in Spring, 2018.
An introductory weekend experience
In this retreat, we explore how rites of passage can help reveal the gifts of our different life stages from birth to death while also exploring the transformative nature of this work firsthand. We will explore the value of rites of passage, while also highlighting various traditions and their benefit to individuals of different ages as well as whole communities. We will use traditional storytelling and experiential activities to illustrate the value and power of the rites of passage work. This retreat provides a transformative setting in which you can explore the magic, meaning, and age-old power of rites of passage.
Join us as we prepare to:
- Shed parts of our identity
- Gather the archetypal treasures of our journeys
- Listen for the new adventures that are longing to be born
- Step into the new and unknown territories beckoning us

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS
Sarah Haggerty helps people get in touch with what really matters. In an increasingly fragmented world, we need to connect with the deeper aspects of life – more now than ever. Sarah has developed her approach over the past 20 years, and has supported thousands of people on the path of deep nature connection and personal growth. Through this work, she has helped remove the grief of disconnection, awaken attributes of leadership, nourish dreams and bring a sense of meaning back into daily life. She was the 2012 winner of the North Carolina Environmental Educators of the Year award, was Program Director at Schoolhouse of Wonder, founded the Natural Mystery School, and is the current Director of Education at Piedmont Wildlife.
Simon Spire’s transformative process, INploration, invites people into a space in which shifts can happen. Drawing on wisdom traditions and contemplative practices, his work enables people to navigate inner spaces and integrate the challenges and opportunities encountered with the whole of themselves. Simon brings to his facilitation years of exploration of non-dual traditions, self-inquiry, and meditative practices; the perspectives of developmental and soul-centered psychology; and his experiences with artistry and the creative process. In addition to his graduate studies in psychology and work in the fields of social entrepreneurship and mental health, he recently completed a 10-month vision quest with Animas Valley Institute and is currently certifying with the International Focusing Institute.
