Ancestor feast

AN EVENING OF HONORING & REMEMBERING THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE

Offered in collaboration with Natural Mystery School

At this time of year, in many parts of the world, a special festival is held to celebrate the people who came before us. This is a time to honor our ancestors with food, celebration and ceremony. We are bringing back into our community this annual event. The ancestors feast includes a potluck, fire circle with music, community ceremony and a collaborative ancestor altar.

We invite you to bring a dish, a few words to share about your food, and photographs or special items that are appropriate to place upon our community ancestor altar. We also welcome you to bring a song or story to share around the fire after our shared meal. The beloved dead that you celebrate this year may be your ancestors, dear loved ones who have passed away, honored teachers or friends.

You might choose to bring:

- A traditional family recipe

- A meal from your ancestral homeland

- A favorite food of your grandparents or other family members who have passed on

 - A special treat in memory of someone you love

Whatever you wish to bring, here is a chance to connect our cultures, our stories, our family legacies and the magic of community food. People of all ages are welcome.
